Patch's Past

Bellingham, WA, United States
I'm a shih tzu rescued by my forever mom from a hoarder of dogs when I was about ten years old. I've had a past of abuse by neglect, including a fractured jaw and broken teeth. Now, for the past two years, I've been rescued, rehabilitated and revered. I've had a fitness program, swim therapy, and every kind of supplement imaginable. My arthritis is minimized by weight control, exercise, massage and medication. I am pampered, privileged and petted and now -- I AM GOING TO PARIS.

Cat Hunting

Inspired by the two recent "finds" of M. Chat on the upper walls and chimneys of Paris buildings, Mom and Auntie Susan decided to go out searching for them.  They had a little help from a blog which gave the arrondissement and street addresses of some of them, so off they went to the 2nd and walked around gawking with their necks craned looking on the high chimneys for the grinning yellow cat.  Only in Paris could someone get away with this without anyone paying any attention.  Crossing streets, standing on corners looking up, hunkering down to look between the branches and leaves of trees, dodging cars, retracing steps to find the most advantageous spot - unusual behavior?  Non, c'est normale.  Nothing out of the ordinary in a city where one has to watch out for small cars and motorcycles driving on the sidewalk, buses that drive against the traffic and little old ladies who cross against the light.  Some were easier to find than others, and trees had nearly obscured the view in a couple of cases, but if you look carefully, you can see M. Chat's toothy grin in each of these pictures.

Leaping lizards!  Here he is again on 243 Rue St. Martin!

Can you see M. Chat  under the leaves?

On the way home Mom took a picture of this black and white shih tzu.  Do you think he's as cute as me?

  2. Not soon enough! I'm tired of staying home. It takes two weeks to ship the stroller to Paris, and Mom's afraid it won't get here in time for our next excursion to the Loire Valley.

She had thought of trying to have the old one repaired, but there's not only the problem of locating someone to do it, there's also the hassle of getting it to that location - taxi? subway? You see the problem. And who knows how much it would cost! Or even if it would be possible. Living in a city of 3 million people who speak another language presents its own peculiar challenges. So we're waiting for the new one to arrive.

  3. I would offer to pack mine up and send it to you but with your momma's driving skills being what they are, the possibility of her destroying mine, on a pothole of all things, convinced me that it was a bad, BAD idea - BOL, BOL
